Redortiers is a small village on the Albion plateau, at the foot of Mount Lure, whose landscapes inspired the writer Jean Giono and the Contadour gatherings.
History & heritage
The old village of Redortiers, now in ruins and dominated by an ancient keep, was a place dear to Jean Giono, who used to organise the ‘Contadour’ gatherings nearby before the war. These wild hills inspired his work and his imagination.
Geography & setting
The village stretches across the Albion plateau, amongst lavender fields, farmland and woodland, nestled against the Lure mountain. The vast expanses and unobstructed horizons create a landscape that is emblematic of Haute-Provence.
