History & heritage
Its name is said to refer to its location ‘at the end of a valley forming an angle’. A priory and the Church of Sainte-Marie, under the jurisdiction of Lérins Abbey, are recorded there as early as 1259. The construction of the Castillon dam submerged part of the area, creating the present-day Bay of Angles.
