Tucked away in the secluded valley of the Ivoire, a tributary of the Verdon, Allons is a village full of character, guarded by its ancient towers.
History & heritage
Formerly part of the Diocese of Senez and the Bailiwick of Castellane, Allons still preserves the remains of its defensive past: the Templars’ Tower (11th–12th centuries) and, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Verdon and Ivoire valleys, the ancient castrum of Vauclause. The village developed around the Church of Saint-Martin.
